R2W House: A Living Engine for R2W’s Mission

R2W House is more than a pair of properties—it is the physical backbone supporting the most advanced programs at Project: Return To Work Inc. (R2W). These properties enable Tier 3 & 4 Client Services (Work Therapy), Mentors, STEM Interns, R&D teams, and R2W Village, R2W’s incubator program for Disabled Business Owners. Together, they form a scalable model designed to help R2W reach its long‑term vision of serving 1 million people within the next decade.

A Multi‑Program Hub

Each R2W House property supports a portfolio of mission‑critical programs:

  • Tier 3 & 4 Client Services (Work Therapy) Hands‑on, therapeutic work for severely injured military service members, veterans, military spouses, and civilians with disabilities.
  • Mentorship & STEM Internships High‑school and college interns, and severely injured clients can work alongside mentors, gaining real‑world experience in engineering, trades, clean energy, agriculture, and nonprofit leadership.
  • R&D and Living Laboratories The properties can serve as testbeds for heat pumps, solar panels, batteries, home automation, and other next‑generation technologies for clean‑energy homes.
  • R2W’s Incubator for Disabled Business Owners the Foundation holding the properties can contract R2W Village LLC for project management, which in turn can subcontract a business in R2W’s incubator program for property management—creating a real, revenue‑producing pathway for disabled entrepreneurs.
  • Revenue‑Generating Rentals When not in use for programs, the properties can be rented to generate income that is set aside for grants to Project: Return To Work Inc. (R2W).

A Legacy‑Driven Model

The current two properties—Port Charlotte, Florida and Boulder, Colorado—were bequeathed to the Foundation. Over time, the Foundation is designed to grow through additional legacy gifts, allowing donors to contribute part or all of their estates to create a permanent, income‑producing endowment for R2W’s mission.

This model ensures:

  • Long‑term financial sustainability
  • Increasing annual grant capacity
  • A growing network of mission‑aligned properties
  • A legacy that honors donors for generations

Why These Two Properties Matter Right Now

Port Charlotte, Florida

A tropical, waterfront environment ideal for:

  • Work Therapy retreats
  • R2W Gardens & Farms
  • Spring Break service events
  • Clean‑energy R&D in a hurricane‑prone region

Boulder, Colorado

A high‑altitude, elite mountain‑town environment ideal for:

  • STEM internships
  • Dog Grooming Workshops (Work Therapy)
  • Clean‑energy testing in cold‑climate conditions
  • Collaboration with Colorado’s innovation ecosystem
  • Hosting students, athletes, and film‑industry volunteers

Both properties need substantial restoration—but unlike commercial projects, R2W House renovations can be done slowly, intentionally, and programmatically, allowing different teams to contribute over time.
